Bio: Black Lotus is a collective of avant-goth artists from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared vision that crosses genres and disciplines. Founded by Thai Black and Madeleine Moriand, the project began to take shape around 2017 and emerged more fully around 2019. Rooted in gothic rock and gothic art metal, Black Lotus moves freely through avant-goth, noir pop, post-punk, dark pop, wave, industrial, rock, metal and experimental forms, with each release developing its own distinct sonic and visual world. Known for a strong conceptual and performative identity, Black Lotus brings music together with backgrounds in film, photography, movement, installation art and performance-based visual art. Rather than following one fixed aesthetic or genre, the project evolves from release to release, allowing each body of work to become its own immersive intermedia environment.
